COPIES OF MASTERS WITH A TWIST.
Which great masters inspire us to create our own artwork? What is it that causes our hearts to skip a beat? Is it a color, a line, a shape or is it the content or overall composition? How do we integrate the things we see in favorite pieces into our own work and transform it into something personal? These are the questions that the artists of the Beaufort Art Association (BAA) explore in their next exhibition, Masterpiece Masquerade. Here, each exhibitor researched favorite artists and then either incorporated that style into a work of their own or replicated the original while changing something in the composition, a play on art, if you will. The exhibit may be viewed at the BAA Art Gallery at 1001 Bay Street from February 22 – April 3.

“Landscape painting Using Water Mixable Oils”

Instructor: Jay Kenaga
3 Consecutive days. Monday March 1 - Wednesday 3 Afternoons 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Cost: $125 for three classes.
Paints furnished. Additional supply list upon registration.
Real oil paints that clean up with soap and water. Instructor to supply landscape subject and grid technique for drawing. Mixing of oil colors and brush techniques will be stressed. Class designed to be fun and to inspire and encourage students.

Location: P.A.L.S, 1514 Richmond Ave. in Port Royal, SC.
This drawing class, based on the book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards, is a class for true beginners, as well as those who feel the need for a refresher course to jump-start and improve their drawing skills. This course will open your eyes to a world of possibilities available when you are able to
draw.
